March Craft Hour ~ Journal Your Story
This is the prototype for my March Craft Hour. We don't get to create this at the Library because of the Covid 19 shutdown. I did want to share it on here though.
The theme for March was Women's History Month and my blurb was
Craft Hour - Craft Your Story
Make, craft and create. This month’s focus will be to create a journal decorated with bits of ephemera and quotes for women’s history month in which you can write your own story. Adults. Registration required
The cover is a piece of craft card stock cut to 8 1/2" by 8 1/2" folded
in half to create an 8 1/2" by 4 1/4" journal.
An assortment of items can be used to decorate the cover. I used a paper doily, a piece of book page, a tag, blue velvet ribbon, washi tape, a bit of map and photo of Eleanor Roosevelt mounted on blue card stock.
The Quote is from Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, who is a professor of Early American history at Harvard.
The pages inside are a variety of materials.
Dictionary pages, copy paper, map and map index to name a few.
Photos and quotes enhanced the Women's History month theme.
A lot of the pages were left blank so the creator could add their own bits as they collect them or to journal their story.
The pages were cut to a variety of sizes to add interest to the interior and give places to tuck items.
The journal is stitched together with a bit of sparkly cord.
Some of the pages folded as they were wider than the 8 1/2" size. This provides a tuck spot with the addition of a paper clip or a place to journal a hidden thought.
I love this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt.
