Remember When 1962

Recently my In-laws had their 50th Wedding Anniversary. I created a card/book that was part anniversary card and part trivia information book. To go with this I put together a gift basket with magazines, movies and fun trivia from 1962. My daughter made a wedding cake top with a cute bride and groom dove couple on the top. I forgot to take my camera to the anniverary dinner, go figure. But my daughter had her iphone and got some pictures, maybe I can get her to share some here.

To create the card I used a 8.5 x 11 sheet of early expresso and scored at 5.5. The front is decorated with Brushed gold cardstock and whisper white. I cut the top with the Adorning Accets edgelits die. I stamped the matching dotted line from Bordering on Romance in Versamark and embossed with gold. The title uses Remember when from Word Play and the numbers from Memorable Moments. These too are embossed in gold. the gem at the top is a construct made by layering buttons and pearls.

The inside of the card consists of multiple pages of information that I printed out and attached to early espresso cardstock. The sentiment on the next to last page was also stamped and embossed in gold.

I was able to find several magazines that came out June 1962 and even one that is dated June 15th the day before their wedding. I hope they enjoy going through all of these trips down memory lane and get a chance to relive the happy moments leading up to their wedding.

The Jewel is a layer of buttons. I love how the Naturals button makes a bezel for the faceted button. The gold you can see around the Pearl is actually the natural button showing through the faceted button. The whole assemblage is a homage to the couple. The wood button is much like my father in-law who does wonderful handi-crafts, wood working being one of them. My mother in law loves and collects vintage jewelry so the facted button is so reminiscent of her and the pearl just reminds me of the quintisential piece of jewelry worn by brides, a pearl necklace.
