Going Green, Soda Can Beautiful Butterflies
At my GoingGreen program on Tuesday we used the Big Shot, the Beautiful Butterflies Stampin' Up! Bigz Die and Beautiful Wings Stampin' Up! Embosslits Die to create a pin and earrings. I pre cut the cans so all the ladies had to do was run them through the die and embosslit. A seven inch piece of wire was used to attach the pin back to the second side butterfly on the die. The wire was bent in half and one side was threaded through the holes on the pin back.
The butterfly was then placed between the folded wire with the pin on the silver side and a blank wire on the printed side.
Beads were used to create the body and the two wires were twisted together at the top of the butterfly.
A larger bead was threaded onto the two wires and over the twist. The wires were then spread apart to create antena and snipped to size.
I like the way the pin sticks down a bit below the butterfly, looking like a tail.
The earrings were made using the largest butterfly from the embosslit. Using the embosslit was a bit more difficult then the die.
The die cuts through the metal like butter, the the embosslit is not designed for metal. We had to run it through, and back and through again to get it to give a good score to the metal and then had to do some major wiggling to get the butterfly to pop out.
A crop-a-dile was then used to punch holes in one of the wings and jump rings and ear wires were attached.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing this project; I know the ladies all had a great time making it.
See you soon,
Iantha
