Diaper Cake
08/25/2013
I am finally getting around to posting the photo of the Diaper Cake from the Willy Wonka baby shower.
I used three sizes of diapers a package of each size per layer, newborn for the top layer, size 1 for the middle layer and size 2 for the bottom layer. The top layer I had a few diapers that didn't fit so I held them aside for filling in the bottom. The middle took a full package with no extras. The bottom used the full package and I still had space to fill in, so I used a box of baby wipes and the left over new borns from the top layer to fill in the center with the size 2 diapers on the outside. I used different sized cake pans to form the layers, once I had the diapers fanned the way I wanted I tied them with cord and then covered that with ribbon. I made a bow for the top with the same ribbon and had three spirals of ribbon going down the cake. I accented these with some sheer purple ribbon and willy wonka candy. The banner topper was made with the Broadsheet alphabet set (retired) and punched out with the artisan label punch (130920). They are attached to 2 ~ .25" dowel rods. Retired ribbon was used to string them and make the bows at the top of the dowels.
I hope this helps if you ever need to make a diaper cake.
Sorry for the long absence. We just got back from Vacation and I have some fun pics that I will post soon. I also have several cards that I need to post. So there should be lots of activity in the coming weeks.
Thanks for stopping by ~
See you soon,
