France Day 4 - Clermont Ferrand

  

View from the scenic overlook, the day was so hazy that cathedral did not pop against the red roofs of the surrounding building that you usually see in the post cards and other photos. I pulled the one on the right from the internet, that was a nice clear day and you can see the pop. It was hazy the entire time we were there, even in Grenoble. You will notice on the pictures I post from there that even thought the entire city is surrounded by mountains it is so hazy you can not see them.

The cathedral gets it's unique color from the stone they used to build it. You will see a couple more pictures of buildings that use the same stone. It comes from the volcanoes nearby.
