A Sad Farewell ~ Ursula

On Monday we lost one of my first favorite authors,
Ursula K Le Guin.
It is a sad farewell but she will forever be with us in her books.

Ursula K. Le Guin
21 October 1929 - 22 January 2018

I am going to remember her by getting reacquainted with some favorites.

Because who doesn't love cats?
 And cats with wings!!!!

I was first introduced to Ursual K. Le Guin in high school English.
My teacher Mrs. Evans went to college with her and talked fondly about her and made sure that we were introduced not only to her work but to other classic fantasy.
In sophomore English we read Le Guin's Earthsea Trilogy, as well as the Hobbit and Fahrenheit 451.
Thank you Mrs. Evans it is from this beginning that I developed a love of Science Fiction and Fantasy.

"To hear, one must be silent"

- Ursula K. Le Guin, A Wizard of Earthsea, 1968

"All of us have to learn how to invent our lives, make them up, imagine them. We need to be taught these skills; we need guides to show us how. If we don't our lives get made up for us by other people."

-Ursula K. Le Guine, The Wave in the Mind, 2004.

And one that I haven't read yet.
A nonfiction that just came out last year, 2017.

"From acclaimed author Ursula K. Le Guin, a collection of thoughts--always adroit, often acerbic--on aging, belief, the state of literature, and the state of the nation"--Provided by publisher.
